Three Tips To Survive A Bad Economy

The news about the bad economy seems to be endless.  Every time you turn on the tv or radio it seems there is more about the jobless rate or rising consumer debt.  Here are three simple things you can do to help get you through this bad economy.

1.    If you’re not on a strict budget get on one.  If your absolutely new to budgeting start with a simple expense tracking sheet and track every single penny you spend for thirty days.  Most people who do this for the first time will be shocked to learn where all of there money goes.  Every dollar should be spent on paper before you even receive your paycheck.  There will be a few leaks in the budget at first but after a couple of months you should get the hang of it.

Tracking your money will tell you exactly where your strengths are a where the weaknesses are.  Once you see where the chips in the armor are you can begin to develop a debt repayment plan or a savings plan.

2.    If you are not working a full time job and you can’t find one, this may be the time to start or research your dream of owning your own business.  Often starting a business takes a great deal of time and energy to start, this could be the perfect time.  If you need money to start your business and you’ve done all of the research you can stand, than maybe you can apprentice for someone either for free or very cheap.  Take this time to get to know the people in this industry.  If you can start the business it can be a great asset for reducing taxes, saving money is the name of the game.

3.    If you’re tired of hearing news like economy still bad or bad economy statistics, than instead of being a victim, consider a career change.  Changing careers is a scary tactic especially in a bad economy, but the news is never bad for everyone.  Think of the repot man or foreclosure agents, now I’m not saying you have to pick a career that specializes in making things tougher for people in a bad economy but I’m making a point.  Go where the money is, People that have money are actually spending a lot of it right now because there are so many deals to be had.  Maybe you want to consider selling high end cars or jewelry for example.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, often times you just need to be willing to do for awhile what the next guy won’t.  When things turn around, and they always do, you will be the one getting all of the great deals.
