Dining And Nightlife In Murcia
Two of the things that would make people think fondly of their travels are the food that they tasted and ate during their trip and the nightlife entertainment that they have enjoyed. Knowing what to expect beforehand will help in planning one’s trip especially the day-to-day itinerary on where to eat and have fun during the evenings. And none more so than travelling in the south of Spain. There are many different and compelling cities to visit while you are down here including the city of Murcia, Alicante, or Cieza. Here is a sampling of the dining and nightlife options that can be had in one’s trip to Murcia.
First on the list is being able to taste traditional Spanish cuisine right where it is most authentic, of which the tapas is an important part. The tapas in this city are simply superb due to the vibrant agriculture industry and the proximity of the Mediterranean sea, which means that the ingredients that make up the food are fresh and of a wide variety. Eating is definitely an experience when done the way the locals do it. Dine in the traditional Spanish style of hopping from one tapas bar to another, grazing through the different offerings from each one until you’ve had your fill. The recommended tapas bars in this part of Spain are the La Tapa, Las La Tapa, Las Mulas, Las Viandas, Casa Perela, and El Bolito.
If being ambulatory during mealtime is not appealing, there are several restaurants where one can sit down and enjoy a multi-course meal. The El Grumete in Plaza San Nicolas is well known for its delicious preparation of fresh seafood dishes, most specially their famous mussels. They serve Spanish rice dishes also, such as the arroz caldero and the paella. Other visitors like dining here simply for the attentive service from the staff. Prices are reasonable here. There is also a branch in Calle Vara de Rey. The restaurant is closed on Mondays just like most of the dining establishments here.
As for the kind of nightlife that one can expect, take note that this being a university town, the type of nightlife here is strongly student-based. There are a lot of clubs and bars that mostly host dance parties. Electronic and trance music are the staples here. Typically, the action starts at midnight although it only gets really interesting at two in the morning. Some bars close at three or four in the morning while in others the party does not stop until six.
Just like anywhere else in Spain, eating good food and having the best time is almost a foregone conclusion with the choices that are available in Murcia. Have the best tapas and seafood in the aforementioned restaurants or just explore the city to find your own favorite. Then, burn off those calories from eating at the throbbing nightlife offered by the many dance clubs in the city.
