DIY Outdoor Showers
Do you want to build functional outside showers in your yard or pool area? If so, then you certainly made a wise decision. It will be more convenient if you have a working shower outside your home so you can easily rinse your body after doing some garden chores or when you just want to enjoy the relaxing ambience of your garden while you indulge in an invigorating bathing experience. Though showering outdoor may seem awkward at first, you’ll get used to the idea over time.
What most homeowners don’t know is that building outdoor showers is pretty easy. You do not have to be a professional in order to pull this off. All you need is a little know-how and the right equipment. To help you build a simple outdoor shower in your yard, here are some steps that you can follow.
First, you should measure the area where you intend to construct the outdoor shower area. It doesn’t have to be big, just allot an area that will allow you to comfortably move around while you shower. With the use of a post hole digger, dig four 18 feet deep holes surrounding the area where the shower will be placed.
After that, mix the cement and water until you form a mud-like consistency. Then, place four poles on the holes that you made earlier. Make sure that the posts are properly leveled. Pour in the cement mixture around each pole and then allow the cement to dry. The poles will serve as the foundation of your outdoor shower.
When the cement has completely dried out, you may now start building the skeleton of the roof of your outdoor shower. It would be best if you settle for a simple roof design, so it is easier to construct. Assemble the roof components on the ground before you attach them to the posts. Make sure to securely bolt the roof on the four posts.
As for the flooring, you can either choose to have a cement floor or you can use wood slabs, depending on what you prefer. Do not forget to setup the drainage. Once you have finished constructing the roof and flooring of your outdoor shower area, you may now attach the fence boards. The fence boards will conceal the view of the shower to ensure your privacy. Decide whether you want to include a door or not. Ascertain that all the components are properly secured in place to ensure a firm structure.
When done, all that is left to do is to connect the plumbing to the outdoor shower head, and voila, you now have your very own outdoor shower area.
