Meditation for beginners
Meditation is beneficial for all of those who are willing to give it an honest try. Meditation for beginners is really all about getting used to the practice of meditation but even still, you should quickly notice some improvements in your ability to focus in as little as two weeks.
If you try to research meditation you will find every meditation techniques for beginners instruction you can think of. There are different styles, techniques, mantras, ohm meditation and the list is almost endless. The fact of the matter is that even though most of the traditions have specific practices that they hold very sacred and in some cases hold very secret, the benefits seem to be about the same for most of the common practices. In other words, you don’t have to become a Zen master before you can benefit from the daily practice of meditation.
Studies show that meditation has several benefits to the practitioner. In as little as two weeks and in rare cases even less, practitioners notice increased ability to concentrate, focus, remember tasks and seem to have more emotional stability. As time goes on, the practitioner will experience ever greater amounts of a sense of peace and love. As you begin to master meditation which most people don’t, you even begin to feel a new sense of understanding about what is important in the world and some even begin to feel as though they are in communion with God.
Experiences will vary from person to person but almost everyone will benefit in some way if they give it an honest try. How to meditate for beginners: Do you practice Buddhist meditation for beginners or charka meditation for beginners or what? The answer is that you start simple. You don’t try to achieve enlightenment on your first day. The first goal is really just getting into a rhythm. Just like any new endeavor, you must first get into the habit before you try to master the skill.
The first thing you do is find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for at least ten minutes to start. For the first week or so you simply want to spend ten minutes per day in a quiet spot, preferably the same spot each time, and count your breathe. Later you can try other techniques but you have to start somewhere. You should be working your way on up to about fifteen minutes within the first month.
Some things to consider:
Your mind will be going crazy at first, which is completely normal. Don’t fight it or try to think about it, simply notice it and get back to your breathing. Some people use very subtle meditation music or maybe some other type of white noise which causes relaxation. Remember to sit in a comfortable position and breathe deeply. Many who practice meditation will sit with legs crossed but if that is to uncomfortable then sit however you can.
After the first month or so you can begin to experiment with different techniques like mindfulness and ohm meditation. You should have an idea of what technique seems to work for you fairly quickly. Sometimes people simply try to hear what god has to say, so the question ultimately is, how to meditate for beginners and the answer is, only you can decide.
