Simple Tips to Enhance Your Dove Hunting Experience
Once the summer kicks in, there is a popular sport for the young and old alike are looking forward to do. It is after all the hunting season. Among the popular activities is dove hunting which can be greatly enjoyed if you have the proper skills and the right tools to start with. Many factors affect the success of a hunting game, one important thing is finding that perfect spot in the field. It will be best to examine the area first and observe closely the flight patterns of the dove and the time they start to appear. Scout a few places, this will provide you with more options just in case the first location did not turn out to be promising.
Know the right time to hunt. Aside from finding the perfect place, timing also plays a critical factor. Normally, they are out during the morning up to mid afternoon. Since doves main food are seeds, position yourself in an area with an adequate supply of food. You can also set up around watering holes; it is one place that doves go after eating. Remember, it is advisable to get there early regardless what time of day you intend to hunt. This way you can beat the others and get ready in the field.
Positioning yourself is also a critical factor. Make sure that the sun is always at your back as its brightness might hinder you from finding the dove and shooting. Try to at least not be in a position where it directly hits your eyes. Studying their movements and behavior will help you to come up with a plan. Once the birds are aware of the situation, they have the tendency to change their course, so be very careful and try to be still so as not to disrupt them.
Using decoys is also a way to attract them. Place it on several areas such as seeded places or bare spots. If you are up for outdoor adventures like hunting, add more fun and excitement by inviting a couple of friends to join. Get their insights and learn a few tricks from a fellow hunter.
