There aren’t too many people who aren’t looking to save some money. The problem however, is that the best way to save money is not the most fun. The best advice on saving money is pay attention to where your money is going. This definitely sounds oversimplified but it can be extremely difficult to get started. The best way to know where exactly your money goes every month is to get on a strict budget.
Budgeting is absolutely boring to most people but the price paid is that the money you waste every month adds up to an extraordinary amount every year. It is a fact that when ninety percent of the people who are new to budgeting start a budget and see where their money goes every month they are absolutely shocked. When you can see you spent four hundred dollars in one month on eating fast food you start to look at your budget as your friend not your foe.
Budgeting admittedly takes some getting used to but it quickly becomes old hat once you have a few months in. At first it is a pain to write everything down but you will soon find yourself getting excited as the amount of money in your savings account is not only not shrinking but it is actually growing, perhaps for the first time in several years.
The trick is to spend every dollar on paper every month before you even get paid. This way, if you have some extra cash then it already has a place to go so you will be less inclined to waste it. Nobody wants to save money every month at first but the excitement of watching your bills get paid off and watching your savings grow every month at the same time overpowers the initial doldrum.
It may not seem like budgeting and saving is related to tips to save money but rest assured, they are. It doesn’t matter if you save ten percent on a purchase, which is technically saving money, if you never should have made the purchase in the first place. This is why budgeting is the best way to save money; it often prevents you from spending it in the first place. What good are tips to save money if you don’t have any to spend, this way you have spending money that is allotted every month so that you can’t overspend.
